Wednesday, January 20th

Starting to begin U.S. Geography today. Short classes gave limited time, but students received their maps and instructions for the first region - the Pacific states. Students also shared some stories they learned the previous evening. We had at least three that can trace lineage to the Mayflower, a witness to the flag raising on Iwo Jima, a builder of the Spirit of St. Louis and the Enola Gay, survivors of the Potato Famine and Japanes subs in WW2, and All-American basketball player and former NBA player, an eyewitness to the fall of the Berlin Wall, an early French explorer to the New World, and other people important in the development/growth of the Milwaukee area. Awesome! Thanks for your stories!
