Kennewick Man?

So, where did the Pre-Columbian peoples (Native Americans) come from? We looked at the Bering Land Bridge (Clovis First) theory. Then we watched a video about Kennewick Man and began a discussion about alternate theories of early human migration in North America.

First - got organized!

 
Next, we began Pre-Columbian History!
  • Discussed Primary and Secondary sources...
  • Learned what Pre-Columbian means...
  • Found out what we will be exploring in this unit...
  • Talked about what was here before there was a a country or colonies...
  • Looked at some pics Pre-Columbian compared to today (Manhattan island circa 1500 and NY today!)
  • Read some primary sources/stories - Coronado and Verrazano - what these first Europeans saw at the earliest observations of this country! Fun stuff!

Geography Olympics - to prepare and review for the Geography test tomorrow, we did several activities.

1. All 50 states and capitals
2. All the physical geography of the U.S. that we learned

Big organization day - checked the Binder Page and got organized. Handed back all map quizzes! Handed out progress reports.

Concluded our video tour of the United States - region #5 (Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern states)

Did Map Quiz #5!
